Review: The Geek Job by Eve Langlais

The Geek Job by Eve Langlais

TLDR recap:

Werewolf bodyguard Lexie (short for Lexington) is an alpha female in her own right that loves the thrill of danger she gets from her jobs.  When she’s hired by a vampire to guard his pet lab geek, Lexie is expecting some death threats and using her body to distract Anthony from the fact that his life is in danger and that he’s working for a man that is anything but human.  She doesn’t expect her heart to follow her body or the fact that her geek is actually sexy as hell and may just be able to get past her alpha female tendencies when all the male werewolves have failed.  The Geek Job is a Recommended Read!

Thoughts:

The Geek Job is gloriously, unabashedly erotic Smex Beam action from the get go.  It’s also hilariously funny, light hearted, and action packed.  Lexie cracked me up – even when I shouldn’t have been laughing. Her language and inner monologue are unapologetically vulgar.  She’s almost a guy in the things she thinks and says.  And you know what?  It totally works for her.  I like the hell out of Lexie.

Anthony, her hero is so damned nerdy and sweet.  He blushes constantly at her come ons, stammers, and is really cute while berating himself for not being suave or confident enough when talking to Lexie.  It cracks me up and reminds me of a few guys I’ve known and love to tease mercilessly, married or not.  ;)

Put Anthony in the bedroom, however, and he’s deliciously equipped for all situataions.  Lexie is too, and is not afraid to ask for what she wants.  She’s also completely capable of being an able body guard.

Anthony will surprise you in the best possible way by the end of their story, because of course this is erotic PNR and there’s an HEA where our hero and heroine are perfectly matched.  My favorite type of ending.

I really enjoyed that Eve showed that nerds can in fact be sexy as hell and great in bed.  Anthony is incredibly smart and self possessed while acting as a scientist.  He’s also a great lover.  The denoument even gives him some new skillz that Lexie is quite appreciative of.

Memorable quotes:

Breaking your toys is bad Lexie!

At the very bottom of the pile she finally found a picture, more like an employee mug shot, but it gave her a face for her nerd.  He sported shaggy, brownish un-kempt hair, dark rimmed glasses and a slightly startled look which seemed at odds with his square chin and sesnual lips.  Well at least he’s not butt ugly.

His height and size also put him on the larger size, which would work out in her favor.  Nothing worse than breaking a human when you’re trying to get them off.

Gotta make sure that you pack all the essentials.

As she snuggled into her comforter, she made a mental list of the things she’d need to pack for her trip — slutty business suits, flats so she didn’t tower, nylons and garters, her Browning High Power loaded with silver bullets, her stakes, ooh and her vibrator in case her geek came before the main event.

Interesting breakfast conversation, to be sure…

“Penny for your thoughts,” she said.  His color deepened and she smiled.  No need for a penny, his face read like an open book.  ”If it’s any consolation, I wish we were back in the room with my lips [bleeeeep!], too.  But you came here for a reason so I’m going to be a good girl, for now, and clamp my thighs tight and think of the lectures as foreplay.”

He couldn’t stifle the small moan which, in turn, made her squirm as more [bleeeeeep!}

(Sorry folks.  We got a PG-13 rating around here.  LOL)

If you liked The Geek Job...

I think you'd also like Claiming Her Geeks by the same author. It's a naughty menage book that I haven't read yet, but will be soon.  Anything that has geeks, an alpha female, menage, and this author it is sure to be funny, erotic as hell, and an enjoyable read.

If you like an alpha female with loads of sex, you'd also the Vampire Queen series by Joey W. Hill.  That series is deadly serious, but sensual, erotic, and an introduction to the world of BDSM for the curious nubby.  Start with The Vampire Queen's Servant and just clear your reading calendar for awhile so you can finish all eight books.

Final thoughts:

This book had me laughing out loud from start to finish.  It's a wonderful afternoon diversion full of fun, laughter, Smex Beam, and a little danger.  I liked it a lot and am looking forward to more titles by this author.

When not in pursuit of two small children, a sausage shaped black lab, workaholic husband, crazed hermit crab, bachelor's degree, Jensen Ackles, or editors, I spend time writing and reading PNR/UF as fast as my overtaxed eyes and fingers can read and type. I'm busily writing a series with plenty of Smex Beam deployment and the occasional short story. I am susceptible to bribes involving chocolate, peanut butter, and interesting combinations of the two.
