Thoughts:

Lucia senses something is different about herself, from little things like her unnaturally glowing eyes to her recurring dreams of a husband in another life named Vittorio. Lucia comes to find out that she is surrounded by people who are not what they seem, each of them guiding her toward her true destiny.

The love story in Perpetual Light is a boundless one. Lucia and Vittorio’s affection cannot be denied in spite of the passage of time and hardships. In every lifetime, Lucia dreams of Vittorio, senses and feels drawn to him. At the same time, a vengeful male from her distant past is stalking her.

It’s easy to feel the frustration and weariness in Lucia as she tries to remember her past lives and fights to learn about her powers and how to harness them so that she can defend herself against Samuel and hone the ability to fulfill her destiny of ferrying souls to the Abyss.

The storyline flows giving a glimpse of Lucia’s past lives and of instances where Vittorio appeared in some way or another in them. Ms. Jordan does a great job of allowing the reader to feel the intensity of the emotions between Lucia and Vittorio. There is never a doubt as to how strong their love is. Even when they are angry or fearful of each other, they never stop caring.

Ms. Jordan’s style of writing was not what I expected. If I had to describe it in one word, I would choose ‘Poetic’. After I got the rhythm of her style, I realized what a fluid and beautiful story she pens. The dialog and heart wrenching scenes drew me in fully until I saw and felt every movement and emotion.

Perpetual Light is a living story that evolves around how a person can cherish another forever. A tale in which the reader experiences an all-encompassing love that is eternal and so great, that it becomes a living character in this book.

Memorable Quotes:

Unwanted assistant…

“Lu, damn it, he’s yours. You’re keeping him and that’s final.”

Worse than a hickey…

“If it’s any consolation, her mother and I have had to endure seeing your mark on her neck in every lifetime since she gave you her light.”

Final Thoughts:

Perpetual Light is a timeless, poetic story so romantic that you will recall it and sigh long after you turn the last page.
