Review: Enslave (Vampire Erotic Theatre #4) by Felicity Heaton

Enslave (Vampire Erotic Theatre #4) by Felicity Heaton
Enslave (Vampire Erotic Theatre #4) by Felicity Heaton

TLDR Recap:

Andreu is a bonafide bachelor, an elite vampire learning the administrative ropes of the Vampire Erotic Theatre before he opens his own… for pure profit of course, with none of that love nonsense his brother Javier fell prey to. Varya is a young succubus who pays the price for her curiosity when she can’t keep her lips off Andreu.  As their steaming hot bond develops, Andreu and Varya embrace sides of themselves they thought they never would, and one of them will have to sacrifice all they hold dear. Enslave is a GraveTells “must read”!

Thoughts:

The first three books in the Vampire Erotic Theater series showcased heros that were likable and immediately relatable; Andreu pushes the envelope right from the start, making you wonder what he’s trying so hard to conceal under that seemingly self-serving, overconfident facade. His leading lady is no typical damsel in distress either, and her presence in the theater sets off all sorts of warning bells to the older vampires. The setup of this romance is edgy, forbidden, and intense… exactly the way we like our VET stories!

Our first encounter with Varya is dangerous and exciting. She doesn’t waste any time provoking the most dangerous of the theater’s owners before taking a forbidden taste of Andreu. As one of the most powerful fae species, our succubus heroine is both a naughty little minx and curiously innocent. You’ve gotta love a chick who shows up in a corset, thigh-highs, and a mini schoolgirl skirt before flitting around the theater giving smooches.

And Victor… Victor is an enigma. Each book I think I have him pegged, and each one adds a little more dimension and mystery to his character. I don’t think Ms. Heaton has a book planned for him, but I’m interested in learning more about what’s going on with the sexy star of the theater.

Varya and Andreu have a connection that is explosive and addictive; their energy fairly bursts off of the pages. Enslave also gives us a bigger glimpse into Payne’s character, unravelling a little more of his mystery (and what a secret it is!). And, of course, a Vampire Erotic Theatre story would not be complete without a few endearingly gentle and caring appearances by Snow, tempered by his obviously volatile and lethal nature.

The setting for this series is both scandalous and carnally appealling. This is not your average theater and the acts don’t come with anything less than a XXX-rating. In most of the stories so far, Ms. Heaton only exposed glimpses of the performances, but Enslaved doesn’t hold back, and if voyuerism is your thing, this is absolutely the book for you! Varya’s succubus nature combined with Andreu’s dominant, carnal appetite will have you frequently reaching for your own significant other. Hot, hot, hot!!

Memorable Quotes

I love a woman who speaks her mind!

“Not you.”

Andreu frowned, mildly offended and then enraged. There was no way he was going to let her go off and find someone else to have sex with.  ”Why not?” he said.

“You’re toxic… dangerous… I need someone else.”

“Don’t sugar-coat it, Chica. Say it how you see it.” Andreu glared at her and then muttered a curse under his breath.

Yeah, that sounds like the Victor we know…

Varya recognised a few of the vampires from the show, in particular a tall broad male with close-cropped hair that revealed scars on his scalp. The females in the audience had been most enamoured with him. His aura shone burgandy and deepest blue, colors of confidence and contentment. He would make a good feed, but charming him would prove difficult since he was already so deeply in love with himself.

If you liked Enslave…

If you enjoyed Enslave and haven’t yet read the first few novellas in the Vampire Erotic Theatre series, start with Covet, the story of Lilah and Andreu’s brother Javier.  Sensual, forbidden, and daring, Covet will intoduce you the series, its characters, and the naughty goodness that is the Theatre.

If unbridled, voyueristic, sensually intense stories are your kick and you want something a little longer and more involved than the VET novallas, check out Joey Hill’s Vampire Queen series.  The first two books are essentially two halves of a whole, so try to commit to reading both back-to-back.  The first book, The Vampire Queen’s Servant, starts off a little slow and it’s initially difficult (and frustrating) to understand why Lyssa treats Jacob how she does.  Stick with it – there is MEGA payoff, I promise!  Did I mention that Jacob and Lyssa are one of my favorite PNR couples EVER?  Mmmmhmm!!  That series has some of the hottest sex scenes I have ever read, and one of them is in the second book, The Mark of the Vampire Queen.  These stories will have you riveted, so emotional and turned on you’ll be reaching for your significant other for all sorts of comfort… the cuddle kind and the more energetic kind.  *wink*

Final Thoughts:

Passionate, heart-warming, and decadently scandalous, Enslave is my favorite Vampire Erotic Theatre novella so far. Andreu and Varya might be my favorite VET couple as well and, considering Andreu’s initial haughty, self-possessed nature, that’s saying something! Fans of the series will absolutely want to read this 4th installment, and new readers should have no trouble diving right into the story of this deliciously naughty theater and the sexy men who run it. Enslave is a GraveTells must read!
