Midnight Breed Week & Giveaway (US): Meet Dante

by davincikittieJune 17, 2012

Name: Dante Malabranche

Physical Description: Dante is the image of a Greek god, well built, dark hair with medium length. His physical strength radiates off of him in waves, visible to any who cross his path. He is ruthless, strong, and fierce.

Special Powers: Dante is clairvoyant – he is able to see the future death of his breedmate and himself, just as his family before him.

Personality Type/Quirks: Dante is the type of guy that likes things to go his way or the highway. It’s pretty much his way and whoever else disagrees be damned. Dante also loves his Doc Martens… nothing like a pair of sturdy shoes under your feet. Lastly, he is forever a gentleman, even when deadly hardware and an aura of danger wash in visible waves off his huge body.

Spotlighted in: Kiss of Crimson (Midnight Breed series #2) by Lara Adrian

Mated to: Veterinarian Tess Culver

Memorable Quotes:

A long silence answered, and for a moment Dante wondered if the agent had actually slunk away as he hoped. No such luck.
“I understand how you feel, Dante.”
“Do you.”
“I think so, yes. Now I think I understand a lot of things that I didn‘t before.”
“Well, good for you. Fucking brilliant of you, former Agent Chase. Write it up in one of your pointless reports and maybe your buddies in the Darkhavens will pin a goddamn medal of commendation on you. Harvard finally clues in on something.”
~ Dante to Sterling Chase, Kiss of Crimson

Extra Info

Dante and his Breed brethren reside in Darkhavens, or in the case of the Order, their Headquarters. Dante’s kind, the Breed, is a hot-blooded hybrid mix of Homo-sapiens and deadly other-world creatures. They aren’t the typical gothic vampires; they are neither undead nor devil-spawned. Since Dante and his brothers are hybrids, they are able to mate with certain human women and produce offspring, and must consume human blood as their life source.

Dante is of the old world, one of the best warriors of the Order. He is an enigma, the alpha and the omega. Few would dare to cross his path of justice, and none make it out unscathed.  Dante despises the blood thirst element of his kind, an existence of loneliness with no future, and lives and fights like there is no tomorrow. However, as fate would have it, wounded during a battle, Dante lands right in front of the beautiful Tess Culver. Suffering from extreme blood loss, hallucinating, and out of humor, Dante drinks from the first human he comes into contact with. Little does he know, that one selfish act seals his fate, and hers.

I can already tell I’ve been missing out on a good series!

I adore this series. Lara is one of my favorite authors. Her series is incredible. I would use Dante’s gift to keep my family safe from harm. sdylion(at)gmail(dot)com

I love this series and the Breed. I too would use the power to keep my family safe.
    Thank you so much!

Dante’s gift seems almost like a curse to me, but I would definitely use it to help prevent trouble. It would be hard if there was no clue as to when things were to take place.

I loved Dante in the first book and then really enjoyed his own story.

Great intro to him! I love the description and quote.

Dante’s gift would definitely not be something I want to have. I would not want to know about something bad that was going to happen, unless it could be changed.

    Dear Santa,
I would really like to receive Lara Adrian’s entire backlist…

I agree with Sophia about Dante’s power of clairvoyance as being a curse but as others mentioned it is helpful when there is need to prevent some horrible scenario from taking place (as long as there is no consequences with playing with fate).

Dante sounds so super sexy, but I don’t know if I’d want his power.
I wouldn’t want to be able to see my death or anyone else’s. I haven’t read any of the Midnight Breed series. I’m woefully behind.
Maybe you can help with that? 🙂

I definitely have to add this series to my TRL. I wouldn’t want the curse of knowing when my loved ones would die. But I love the description of Dante. A Greek God. 🙂 Nice…

I love this series. I have it both in e-version and paper. And I read it over and over. 🙂

As much as I love how the Order each have a special gift, I would not want Dante’s – seeing my own death – no thanks!

Dante is my very close second favorite of the Breed. I alternate between him and Rio depending on which one I most recently read about!

Oh, Dante is my favorite Breed Warrior. I so love this book. So strong, and determined to get what he wants, Dante is truly a loyal friend. He goes to any length to protect those he loves, especially Tess. Lara is a very talented author. Thank you Lara for sharing the stories of these Hot, Handsome, Sexy Warriors with us.

I like that Dante is clairvoyant but not that he can see his own death and his breedmate’s! I would not want to use that power!

It’s a good book but it ranks on the bottom scale in my opinion. I just wasn’t a fan of Dante but I liked Tess. I really liked the subplot with Ben. It has a great twist at the end!

I liked Dante and I loved how he named his dog Harvard after Chase. Him and Tess are a good fit. To see how you and your loved one is to die would not be a gift.

I loved Dante too! I am also hoping there is a book for Agent Chase.

If I had Dante’s power I would definitely use it to try to keep my friends and family safe but only if I knew that I could change the outcome if I didn’t like what I saw!! But Dante does an excellent job at it!
