Giveaway (US/Int): Satan Jack is back and chatting about his lady love!

Let’s give a warm welcome to Debra Anastasia, your 2012 Readers Choice Most Engaging Author!

A huge thanks for letting Satan Jack and I take over GraveTells today. We had a blast last time. Today we talk about Bittersweet Seraphim.

It was dark in my house. I was all alone except for my three nimrod dogs and my hairy pussy…cat. Technically, at lunchtime during a weekday it shouldn’t be this dark. The weather forecasters were tripping all over themselves to report the thick black clouds that filled the sky.

It’s almost as if a volcano exploded, the air is so thick. We’re cautioning citizens to remain calm and stay indoors.

I went to my door and pulled it open. I stepped onto my front porch without fear. I knew exactly what they didn’t. This smoky-cloud filled day wouldn’t be explained by science. The clouds were magic and the man who created them was coming for me.

My dogs began barking so I closed the door. I took a sip of the hot cocoa that warmed my hand.

The dark clouds began to funnel, swirling like a silent tornado. I sat down on the porch swing as I watched the cosmic anomaly. The light gray smoke lifted to join the funnel. The air was filled with the gorgeous scent of his favorite hand-rolled cigarettes.

I associate the smell with my beloved Satan. Finally, the silent storm was filled with the sound of his million-year-old motorcycle boots. By the time I could see him, he was at the top of the path to my front door. The immense funnel tapered from the sky until it was the size of his palm, which he held outstretched.

He held it up to his sexy mouth and blew it kiss-style in my direction. The funnel hit me and embraced me like a hug. Every part of my body was massaged. I tilted my head and saw the gorgeous blue sky beyond his manufactured terror.

After taking a breath I scolded him, “Jack. Knock it off.”

He smirked when he snapped for the smoke, his favorite pet. Instantly it reverted to dark clouds and smoky fog. Surely the news was freaking out. I heard the warning sirens and rolled my eyes.

“Baby, you know I like to make an entrance.” He lit his cigarette and walked slowly to my front steps.

“They think there was a tornado. That’s why the sirens are going off.”

He motioned to a spot next to me on the porch swing. I nodded permission.

“Those sirens are to alert the ladies that my gorgeous dick is in their vicinity.”

“Funny.” I took another sip.

Jack’s dimple showed on his cheek as he swiped my mug and took a gulp from my cup.

“Crap.” He made a sour face while still managing to look handsome. “Thought this was coffee. What grown woman drinks hot cocoa?” He pulled out a flask and added a splash of evil into my childish beverage.

“The kind that finished your frigging story despite everything else.” I took my cup back and wrinkled my nose. It was most likely rum he’d mixed in.

I balanced the cup on my knee. I knew he was here to pass judgment. I’d made him wait too long for the sequel to Crushed Seraphim or as Jack referred to the Seraphim series “My freaking life, god damn it.”

Jack hadn’t been patient but there had been extenuating circumstances that led to my delay, which is probably the only reason he hadn’t tortured me into ending his story. He did stalk my Twitter friends while trying to find me the last few weeks before Bittersweet Seraphim was released. Luckily my girls never gave me up.

“Your house looks nice. And you didn’t even have to sell your soul for it.” He slung his arm around my shoulders, leather jacket squeaking and groaning.

I turned and looked into his endless brown eyes, “I’ll tell you what, I felt like I did some days. That one contractor, crap, I bet you’ll see him in Hell one day.”

“It’s all good now though. You’re happy?”

I nodded. “We’re home. I’ll never take that for granted as long as I live. What about you? Is it all good now? You’re happy?”

He took a drag from his cigarette. It was a while before he answered. I saw a wide array of emotions play across in his face.

“Your imagination is laced with some of the scariest crap I’ve ever seen. I wouldn’t go there again.” He took his last drag and stubbed the butt out in his palm.

“You would too. For her you’d do anything.” I was referring to the love of his life, the gorgeous cursing angel Emma.

He stood and leaned against the porch railing. “And you put me through everything.” The smoke in the distance began getting choppy. Jack was angry.

I took a drink of the cocoa. It was horrible now, but I swallowed anyway, feeling the burn.
“It only happens one way in my head.” I wasn’t about to apologize and he knew it. “Answer the question. I answered yours. Are you happy?”

He shrugged. “It ended the way it had to.”

I heard police sirens in the distance. “That’ll be the cops trying to find the tornado you caused.”

He ignored my warning. “So are we done? You and I? Is this it?”

I was unexpectedly choked up. “Pretty much, I guess. You want more?”

Jack laughed. “Not really. Seriously, kissing a dude? Where did that come from?”

I laughed with him. I knew he hated that particular scene. “Well, I never say never. You’re a favorite Jack. For me when I have you in my head, feeding me lines I’m excited. Thank you. Thanks for being the most unexpected devil I never saw coming.” I wiped a tear from my eye.

He held out his hand and pulled me off the bench. “You did good lady.” Before I knew it, I was in a bear hug. “I’m here if you need me.” He pointed to the center of my chest.

I nodded, not trusting myself to say more. He kissed my forehead and disappeared. The smoke and dark clouds drained down the sides of the sky, save for one little patch of fog on my front lawn that remains there still.

Thanks again! Feel free to comment, Jack might even drop by to answer your questions.

As Devil, Jack used to have Hell and its women humming like well-oiled machines. Too bad he’s nowhere near the place now. Rescuing a seraph is the plan, but breaking into Hell means letting evil things out. Once they collide, minions and angels converge in the battle of the ages: good versus evil. But which side is which?

How does a foul-mouthed angel end up as the last hope for all of Heaven and Earth? When Seraph Emma is maimed and tossed from Heaven by a rogue angel who’s taken charge, she fears she’ll never be allowed to return.

Tasked with the impossible job of showing the self-loathing (and not even human!) Jason his worth, Emma is sure she’s doomed to fail.

Meanwhile, having wormed his way into Heaven, the corrupt Everett has trapped God in Hell and has designs on unleashing evil everywhere. Fortunately, if there’s one thing Emma can’t do (in addition to minding her language), it’s give up. Determined to save Jason and get back to Heaven-even if it means going to Hell-Emma’s plan is simple yet impossible: trick the Devil to save God.

What she doesn’t count on is the devotion and, well, humanity she finds in Jason; the spirit, hidden compassion, and raw sex appeal within the Devil; and the vulnerability of her own heart.

With the help of two unlikely allies, she’ll wage the battle for Heaven. But will Emma be sidetracked by a new sort of heaven along the way? What’s truly more dangerous? Falling from Heaven, or falling in love?

Debra Anastasia has twisted a fast-paced tale of intimate relationships with literally universal impact. Rich with humor and electrified by attraction, this novel offers a playfully off-beat take on the good and evil that make up the world.

About the author

Debra Anastasia is busy, just like every other mom. There’s dinner, the dogs, the kids, and their homework. The laundry pile turns into a big, heaping monster. When the clothes finally make it into the washer, it gets unbalanced and puts on an elaborate show before it cuts out. This crazy job that never ends is her first love and her crowning achievement.

Her writing started a decent handful of years ago when along with the dogs, cat, kids, and husband, the voices of characters started whispering stories in Debra’s ear. Insomnia was the gateway for the plots that wouldn’t give up, wouldn’t let go. In the shower, a twist would take hold and–dripping and frenzied–she’d find somewhere, anywhere to write it down.

Debra grew up in New York and got a bachelor’s degree in political science at SUNY New Paltz. At the start of her marriage, she moved to southern Maryland with her husband. She still doesn’t trust crabs and all their legs, though everyone else in her family thinks they’re delicious. Her favorite hobbies include knitting, painting furniture and wall murals, and slapping clowns.

Omnific Publishing published her debut novel, #1 in Kindle best selling comic fiction Crushed Seraphim, followed by Poughkeepsie.
