Reviewer recap: Remy has a secret. One she must at all costs. She has been able to heal with just a touch since the age of 12. Living with her mother and abusive stepfather, she’s been able to keep her secret until her stepfather took things too far. Waking up in the hospital, she realizes she not only can now use her powers to hurt as well as heal, but that her estranged father has found out about her abusive home life and is taking her to live with him. On her first morning there she meets Asher. He’s breathtaking and would no way be interested in her until they accidentally touch and she feels a surge of power that both frightens and entices her. Asher is like her, but different. He’s much stronger and very dangerous. Should Remy follow her instincts that tell her to stay away, far away, or her heart that tells her she’s found a kindred spirit and her soulmate? Touched is a GraveTells Must-Read!

Growing up in an abusive household, Remy has very low self-esteem, no friends, and lives in constant fear of her stepfather. She knows she has to keep the secret of her healing touch, no matter what, for there are many who would exploit her and her abilities. When she meets Asher, all her fears come to head.

Asher is gorgeous, aloof, and very wealthy. When Remy accidentally touches him on the beach and realizes that he is “special” like her, she’s intrigued, yet very cautious. Her instincts have kept her alive this long and she has the gut feeling that Asher is very dangerous.

As the two see each other at school and out of it, Asher begins to reveal to Remy the knowledge of her gifts, something she doesn’t know anything about. Despite Asher being dangerous to her, the two can’t seem to keep away from each other. Remy and Asher’s relationship was tumultuous with hints of danger, but exciting to watch unfold. The two are natural enemies and as the book was told from Remy’s POV, the reader is on a tight rope trying to guess whether Asher has feelings for Remy or if he’s just going to succumb to his baser instincts and physically hurt her.

I found Touched to be extremely well written and engaging. Even though the rising popularity of the New Adult genre has me in its clutches and I really don’t read Young Adult anymore, Touched kept me riveted, excited to turn the page. The main characters were believable. I connected with them as well as with the secondary characters that were written just as well. And like I said before, the story was very good. It kept me engaged and I didn’t even skim a little bit.

Memorable Quotes

Keep your friends close and your enemies…

“You remember the day we met on the beach?”
My response came hesitantly as I wondered where this was going. “Yes.”
“You never asked why I took your picture.”
“I figured it was obvious.” I gestured to where bruises had colored my face that day.
His angry frown didn’t mar his good looks in the least. “You thought I was taking pictures of your bruises?”
“What else?”
“Remy, that’s ridiculous.”
“Right. It must’ve been my astounding beauty in all its glorious high-def clarity that caught your attention.”
Asher leaned forward and slid a hand across the table until his hand almost touched mine. Heat zinged from his fingertips.
“Remy.” He waited for me to look up. “Don’t you know? You take my breath away.”

  1.

I picked up Touched when it first came out because I’d recently finished Jackson’s If I Lie and loved it. I haven’t read Touched yet (yes, I’m one of those people who buy books faster than I can read them 😉 but I’m really looking forward to it even more now. Thanks for a fantastic review. 🙂

      Brandee,

I have the same problem. So many books, so little time. I’m glad you liked the review and hope you enjoy the book as much as I did.
