Review: Toxic (Denazen #2) By Jus Accardo

Keeping this to herself, she tries to find a way to stop the poison from spreading, and also keeping Jades hands off of Kale. From start to finish I couldn’t put this book down. The character dialog is witty and the tension between the characters was demanding that you keep reading to find out what they did next. Dez and Kale obviously dominate the book but Jade and Alex help so much by creating that extra tension that takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride.
Jade is your typical “I’m going to steal your boyfriend” type of girl, but with way more bite. I ended up getting so annoyed with her right along with Dez. She makes her intentions very clear to Dez the moment she is introduced and doesn’t do anything to try and hide it.
Jus does a great job of taking the reader on an extremely emotional ride, sometimes to the point you want to throw the book (or e-reader). I was mad at half the characters in the book at some point, and the other half I wanted to punch in the face constantly. I was feeling everything that Dez was feeling and to me this is what makes a good book, experiencing what the characters are feeling.
No boyfriend of the year award for you…
“‘You’re bringing another girl on our first official date?’ For a second, Kale looked confused. Then he frowned. ‘That’s bad, isn’t it?'”
You can’t change the past.
“In the past or not, they still affect you. They’re still part of your life.”
We could take on the world.
We’re a team. It’s us against everything else.
If you liked Toxic…
If you started out the Denazen series with Toxic and still haven’t read Touch, definitely check out the book that started it all! Untouched, a novella between Touch and Toxic is also a great read and a nice filler for the series.
Toxic was a page turner and I couldn’t put it down till I finished it. It was an upbeat book that kept the suspense going till the very end and it always kept you guessing. I fell in love with Dez, Kale, Alex, and Jade and I will definitely be picking this book up again. Toxic is a must read!
